Day 1 Rules:

  • ✓ Characters will be judged based on the Category they've initially registered for.
  • ✓ Group entries allowed (max 3 participants per group) – prize shared among group.

OPEN CATEGORY COMPETITION

Date: 31st August 2025

Format: Single Open Category

Prize Pool: ₹1,40,000

Prize Distribution:

  • ★ Winner: ₹1,00,000 + Free Ticket to Tokyo Game Show 2025
  • ★ Runner-up: ₹40,000

🎟️ The winner will also earn a sponsored entry pass to participate in the Tokyo Game Show – a dream stage for cosplayers across the globe!

Day 2 Rules:

  • ✓ Participation is open to any character from any genre, including original creations.
  • ✓ Cosplayers from Day 1 can also compete in Day 2 (with a different costume or performance).
  • ✓ Solo entries only on Day 2.
  • ✓ Tokyo Game Show ticket includes a round-trip to the event. However, stay, food, and local logistics will not be covered by Gaming Thiruvizha.

GENERAL RULES

Eligibility

Open to all individuals above 18 years. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian.

Registration

Mandatory offline registration during the event. There are no Pre-Registrations for the event.

Props & Weapons

Only cosplay-safe props allowed. No real weapons, sharp objects, or pyrotechnics.

Respectful Portrayals

No costumes that promote hate, explicit content, or political symbolism.

Performance Time

1.5 to 3 minutes per participant/group for stage showcase.

Costume Authenticity

80% of the costume must be handmade, customized, or significantly altered. Store-bought outfits will get lower scores.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Costume Judging (Total 100 Points)

50 pts
Precision in Costumes

Assesses how accurately the costume matches the original character's design, with flexibility for unknown or undefined parts.

15 pts
Originality

Judges the overall entertainment, storytelling, prop use, and faithfulness to the original work.

15 pts
Acting・Stage Proficiency

Rates the cosplayers' expressiveness, delivery, and stage confidence in performance.

10 pts
Costume Stage Presence

Evaluates the visual impact and effectiveness of the costume during stage performance.

10 pts
X Factor

Rewards creativity, innovation, and standout moments that surprise or emotionally move the audience.

  • ★ Limited changing room and green room facilities available. First-come, first-served.
  • ★ By entering, you consent to photos/videos being used by organizers for promotional purposes.
  • ★ Any form of harassment or misconduct will lead to disqualification.
  • ★ Participants assume full responsibility for their personal belongings. The organizers bear no liability for lost items.
  • ★ Participants are solely responsible for any damage to their costumes. The organizers accept no responsibility for repairs or replacements.

Is a Gaming Thiruvizha ticket mandatory to participate in the cosplay contest?

A valid Gaming Thiruvizha ticket is mandatory to participate in the cosplay competition. Visit the KYN App or website for ticketing details. Only ticket holders will be granted access to the event.

What are the timings of the event?

For all days:
11:00 AM to 4:00 PM - Registration Period
4:30 PM - Reporting time for Stage Performance
5:00 to 7:00 PM - Performance on Stage followed by Judgement.

What is the total prize money?

Day 1: ₹60,000 across all 4 categories
Day 2: ₹1,40,000 + Tokyo Game Show tickets

How will the prize money be transferred?

Upon completion of the event, within 60 business days, the prize money will be transferred. Do note that any prize money awarded is subject to 31.2% TDS tax based on the IT Act.
